Dear Elías,
I wanted to let you know what is happening in Peru, and started right as GKPN was leaving, you have probably seen something in the news about it by now.
A sudden and abnormal warming of the ocean current off the coast of Perú, has unleashed the largest downpour in decades, causing landslides, flooding, sweeping away highways, bridges and houses. Atleast 72 people have died (many more are missing) and 70,000 have lost their homes and belongings. Almost all of the coast has been declared in a state of emergency by the president and water even in the lesser affected areas is being rationed or has been cut off due to broken infrastructure.
The devastation is great and the need for the affected is greater. Some of the GKPN partners have been asking how they could help, but I wanted to ask you if you could let the whole group know what we are going through, what we are doing about it and if anyone wants to help what they can do.
Blessings!!!
Ps. Sergio Hornung
